This is a historic place for StorageWise as over 100 years ago it is where the original company was established called the Limerick Carting Company. David Hickey the current owner of StorageWise’s great grandfather William Hickey started Limerick Carting Co. in 1915. They first transported goods from the train station in Limerick to various shops in the city. The Hickey family also started to provide other services such as storage and furniture removal.
The company grew and moved the location to the Docklands Business Park on Dock Road, where StorageWise is situated today, providing a service that allows you to store your possessions in a secure storage room (also known as a storage unit) inside a modern warehouse facility that you rent on a flexible basis.
StorageWise is delighted to donate to such a worthy cause. The St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) shops are a very important aspect of the service SVP provides. Not only do they provide people with new and lightly worn items at affordable prices, but they also provide an income source for the Society, which is recycled directly back into the community.
The charity shops are managed by a small number of professionals, assisted by a large number of volunteers and by community employment trainees. The profits generated from the charity shops, some of which also supply furniture, are recycled into local Conferences around Ireland to support those in need. The second-hand clothes and other items donated to Vincent’s charity shops make a difference to people in need in their communities.
Local Donations from StorageWise
For every new storage customer, StorageWise will donate to a chosen charity. Customers will vote for a charity and StorageWise will tally the tokens at the end of each quarter and donate to the winning charity. Congratulations to St. Vincent de Paul for winning quarter two.
StorageWise recognises that operating a business within local communities bears a responsibility to help make the community a better place, by supporting local charities and making the business more environmentally sustainable. Supporting this, a wide range of initiatives have been identified including retrofitting the storage facilities with solar panels, making StorageWise the very first in Ireland to take this step and providing a selection of eco-friendly packaging for customers to purchase.
