Local self-storage company, StorageWise, donated five hundred euro to the charity Hometree in Ennistymon

We had the pleasure of visiting Hometree's Organic Tree Nursery in Ennistymon and presenting them with a cheque for five hundred euro to help with the brilliant work that Hometree provides in planting native trees throughout Ireland. Below is some information on the superb work involved:

Hometree began in a small community garden project in the winter of 2014, where we saw how important it was for people to connect with nature. Five years on, Hometree has planted over 150,000 pioneer trees - like scots pine, willow and alder - while hundreds of people have contributed time and resources to the vision of incorporating more trees into the Irish landscape, bringing all the benefits that woodlands create.

A view of one of many polytunnels at Hometree's HQ. Hometree’s first polytunnel produced 30,000 trees from seed in its first year.

What began as a tree-planting charity grew into a project that endeavours to deeply connect people with nature, and facilitates a wide variety of fundamental projects to address both Ireland’s declining biodiversity and the unfolding climate challenge.

Local Donations from StorageWise

For every new storage customer, StorageWise will donate to a chosen charity. Customers will vote for a charity and StorageWise will tally the tokens at the end of each quarter and donate to the winning charity. Congratulations to Hometree for winning quarter four of twenty twenty-three.

StorageWise recognises that operating a business within local communities bears a responsibility to help make the community a better place, by supporting local charities and making the business more environmentally sustainable. Supporting this, a wide range of initiatives have been identified including retrofitting the storage facilities with solar panels, making StorageWise the very first in Ireland to take this step and providing a selection of eco-friendly packaging for customers to purchase.
